INTERVIEW
  1. Previous job industry/work

At my previous job at a travel agency, I was in charge of planning collaborative campaigns with other companies during new business development, and then moved on to marketing.
In particular, when I was in charge of marketing in the Information Systems Headquarters, I inputted fundamental knowledge of systems, communicated with development staff both inside and outside the company, was in charge of project manager for billions of units, and created websites and applications. What I accomplished was that I was able to move forward with the project while understanding the system, which gave me confidence in proceeding with development, and I felt that I was able to utilize it for marketing purposes.
I think this experience has helped me communicate with in-house engineers, who make up the majority of GDP.

  2. Why did you decide to join GLOBIS?

At my previous job, someone I worked with on the same project was now working at GLOBIS, and he approached me, which led me to work with him.
I was invited to lunch using an employee introduction system called GO-EN System, and I was given an opportunity to explain GLOBIS and answer any questions I had. While talking with him, I realized that I was interested in the EdTech industry as a business in the growing process, and that I sympathized with GLOBIS 'Management Principles and message of valuing people, and decided that I wanted to take on the challenge.
Also, since the company was ranked every year as one of the most rewarding companies to work for, I wanted to hear about the kind of people working there, and when I had the opportunity to meet and interview, I felt attracted to the idea of working together, and decided to join GLOBIS. I joined the company.

  3. Gap felt before and after joining GLOBIS

After joining the company, there were many positive gaps.
Heartful communication, which is also included in Action Guidelines, is not just a mere pretense, but in the truest sense, everyone who works with us is kind, and we provide thorough Onboarding for new employees.
I joined the company during the coronavirus pandemic and had to Working in the office in a remote environment from the beginning, so I felt anxious in an unfamiliar environment and was unable to meet members of the same team face-to-face for a while, but the remote environment However, I was given the opportunity to communicate with people involved in my work, and gradually I was able to understand the structure within the department, and even if I didn't understand something, I could ask someone a question and someone would honestly answer it, which was really helpful.
Also, they are all talented people who are always hungry to learn and see things logically, but on the other hand, they value humor and privacy, and they create an environment where it is easy to work by using ON/OFF settings, which was the best gap! One of the things that surprised me was how many in-house events there are!

  4. What is your current job?

Currently, in the GLOBIS Digital Platform department to which I belong, I work as a project owner (PO) to acquire new users by introducing marketing tools used in "GLOBIS Manabihoudai GLOBIS Unlimited, planning and design marketing measures, improving the site, and renewing the website.
While logically grasping the numerical values, I am involved in a wide range of tasks, from policy design to tool introduction, UIUX improvement, and communication design to convey the appeal of the product to make more users of "GLOBIS Manabihoudai" and find facts, implement the PDCA cycle, improve the website, etc. to create a better environment.
When we receive positive comments from users on SNS and surveys, we are really happy and rewarded, and we have a strong desire to provide a better environment and deliver the charm of "GLOBIS Manabihoudai".

  5. What I want to achieve in my future career

Although I am not an engineer, I was assigned to the marketing engineering team as both a marketer and a project owner. When I joined the company, I was working as a marketer, but as we introduced marketing tools and improved the site, communication with engineers became essential, so for working on projects together, a new marketing engineer team was established. And  I was appointed as being dedicated to the PO of the business support team, which has evolved from the marketing engineer team. In this way, even if you don't have the development skills, GLOBIS provides an environment where you can "believe in possibilities" if there is a need. I took this as an opportunity, and now I have the opportunity to participate and facilitate Scrum together with engineers. As a project owner, I would like to work hard to create an environment that values heartfelt communication so that we can move forward with projects that take into consideration the intentions of each stakeholder, including engineers and marketers.

  6. Episodes that felt "GLOBIS-like"

There is a lot of support for learning, in-house study sessions, and reading groups, and I feel that the hunger for learning is unique to GLOBIS.
You can purchase the books you need with your own expenses, and you can also receive welfare support of up to 200,000 yen per year for your own studies.
Many of our employees work globally, and we participate in study sessions sponsored by other departments while having lunch during our lunch break. There are a wide range of learning opportunities, including language study sessions, and there are plenty of opportunities for self-growth.
Recently, conversation in English has become a quasi-official language, and I feel that more and more people are studying English.
Additionally, as most of our employees are mid-career hires, we also hold meetings to share knowledge from past achievements and experiences, regardless of company history.
I don't think there are many environments that support learning to this extent, so I hope you will take advantage of it and use it for your own personal growth.

My boss is also an active lecturer at the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University, so I learn a lot while working, and there is a culture of thinking logically, finding facts, and having repeated discussions, and I have had many opportunities for interviews. I feel that the members I work with have the same aspirations.
