INTERVIEW
  1. Previous job industry/work

I was developing and managing new and existing Internet services (travel, community, manga, gaming browsers, etc.).

  2. Why did you decide to join GLOBIS?

The first is "empathy for education."
I was conscious of GLOBIS as a place to change jobs because a colleague from my previous job joined the company first and was introduced to me. Looking back, I have always liked to know and learn things. They also understood the positive effect that education can have on people's lives. By being involved in such educational services, I wonder if I can create opportunities to advance people's lives. I came to think.
Secondly, "Organization is in a growth period and there is room for growth." I have always been interested in Organization. Launched in 2016, GDP is still growing and still incomplete. I felt the potential there. I have actually been involved in projects such as career ladders and Organization engagement.
Third is “culture”. Just like my previous job, I felt like I fit in with a culture that values freedom and discipline.

  3. Gap felt before and after joining GLOBIS

Since GLOBIS is a graduate school of management and corporate training, I had an image of a "hard" Organization. I had imagined that everyone would be wearing suits, logical, and communicating only what they should do and not telling their true feelings. However, when I joined the company, I was betrayed in a good way.
GLOBIS Digital Platform was no different from the atmosphere of a web-based company, and I was able to get used to it immediately. Everyone is dressed casually, and communication is flat. We value dialogue. In terms of the system, it was comparable to other tech companies, such as full flextime, remote work, and lending high-spec terminals. We also use tools such as Slack, Notion, GitHub, Miro, Figma, etc., which are not inferior.

  4. What is your current job?

Currently, I am in charge of the team leader and engineering manager of the "GLOBIS Unlimited GLOBIS Manabihoudai" development team.
Currently, nearly 20 people belong to the team, and their occupations are diverse, including product managers, UI/UX designers, backend, frontend, and mobile engineers. I am not in charge of development, I specialize in management work so that the team can perform well.
Specifically, we will discuss the development roadmap and OKR with the relevant parties, and determine Organization structure necessary to achieve it, taking into consideration the skills and preferences of each member. During the term, the project will progress and the team will be supported to work autonomously.
The most rewarding moment is when the team is immersed in the goal and everyone is happy with the achievement, and when users respond to the released functions.

  5. What I want to achieve in my future career

In terms of service development, since joining the company, I have consistently wanted to create opportunities to advance people's lives through educational services.
For example, from daily problem solving such as "I want to be good at facilitation of meetings" to career achievement such as "I want to be a XX (role) in the future" I hope that the service will bring about changes and challenges for the students.
In terms of Organization management, I would like to create Organization that can adapt to changes in business phases and scale. At Organization level, it includes the design of Organization, workflow, communication, roles and responsibilities, and at the individual level, it includes changes in mindset through dialogue.
Rather than asking for changes unilaterally from Organization, I want to achieve and maintain a win-win situation for Organization and members by considering individual skills and thoughts.

  6. Episodes that felt "GLOBIS-like"

We have a culture in which the “self” is respected as much as possible, such as “Individual Discretion and Responsibility,” Provide Opportunities for Self-Fulfillment and “self-development.”
In terms of goal setting, as a general rule, individual goals are not given by someone else, but are declared by oneself while considering consistency with business policies. In addition, individual careers are not given by the company, but are considered to be pursued on one's own responsibility.
In my team, there is a member who turned from a front engineer to a UI/UX designer. This is also a career change realized by his own declaration and his own efforts.
He put all his effort into his work, had the desire to learn to take on new roles, and had a high level of self-transforming ability. .

MESSAGE

Message for those who are thinking about job change to GLOBIS

Especially for engineers, designers, and product managers, I think this company is unfamiliar. If you take a look at the reference materials below and are even slightly interested in the department's introduction and activities, I would be happy if you could get to know GLOBIS through casual interviews.
