INTERVIEW
  1. Previous job industry/work

In my previous job at a foreign-affiliated educational content company, I was responsible for the development of inquiry learning content for students from elementary school to high school. We have also developed and delivered training for school teachers. In particular, I have been working on STEAM education, content development for inquiry learning that allows students to work on social issues that occur in the real world from a cross-curricular perspective, and teacher support for the practice of that lesson. It was a rewarding job to communicate the real thrill of cutting-edge research to students while collaborating with writers in the UK, video creators in the US, and people active in research institutions in Japan and overseas.

  2. Why did you decide to join GLOBIS?

While building a career in a private company as a member of society, I attended graduate school and obtained a doctorate in the academic field of educational technology. I have been working on research to clarify what can be done to make adult learning effective, efficient, and attractive. When I wanted to use my expertise as a researcher to improve learning for working adults, I learned that GLOBIS was looking for a researcher. rice field.

  3. Gap felt before and after joining GLOBIS

Before joining the company, many of them were management consultants, and they had a strong image of being a fast-paced venture company. I was worried whether I would be able to do well as a researcher. However, when I entered, I found that there were many people involved in content development and research in the department I belonged to. I think it is similar to a research institute where work proceeds as one's interests dictate. I feel that the environment makes it easy for researchers to pursue their own interests.

  4. What is your current job?

We are working on three things:
    ・Educational research
We are planning and promoting empirical research to make the training and educational products developed by GLOBIS more effective for learners.

    ・Training instructor
I am in charge of training lecturers for logical thinking.

    ・Content development
We are working on content development using our knowledge and expertise in the science of learning.

  5. What I want to achieve in my future career

As a big vision, I would like to use my specialization in educational technology to push forward with research activities and create an environment where business people can learn and work with a sense of purpose.

Also, we will disseminate the results of the research we are currently working on both domestically and internationally, and  I hope I can contribute the creation of a place where GLOBIS is known when it comes to educational technology, and where researchers around the world will definitely want to collaborate with us.

  6. Episodes that felt "GLOBIS-like"

I feel that it is GLOBIS-like that the culture of "Individual Discretion and Responsibility" is thoroughly practiced. I heard that from the time of the interview, but after joining the company, I was surprised at how thorough it was. Our basic policy is to perform work based on the wishes of the individual, and there is no job rotation that is not based on the wishes of the employee. You will not be ordered to do any work by your superiors. They ask me what I want to do, and build a task based on the answer that.  I was surprised at how thorough the concept of "Individual Discretion and Responsibility" is, and I feel that it is an environment that is easy to work in as a researcher.

MESSAGE

Message for those who are thinking about job change to GLOBIS

At GLOBIS, I feel that there are many possibilities for conducting diverse research by making the most of my expertise. In addition to educational technology, people with various backgrounds, such as business administration, natural language processing, and well-being, are active while making use of their respective specialties. I would be happy if I could collaborate with researchers who have various specialized fields and work together to create the future of education for working adults.
