INTERVIEW
  1. Previous job industry/work

My previous job was as a job change agent. The company was a boutique type, and its main task was to support career changes for professionals, consultants, investment bankers, etc.
Specifically, we scout/headhunt job seekers by utilizing our own network, career change media, SNS, etc., provide counseling, and mainly support job changes to corporate executives, consulting firms, investment banks, etc. I'm here. There were many job seekers who wanted to become consultants, and my core competency at my previous company was the ability to think through career plans together and develop logical thinking skills and Fermi estimation skills in a short period of time. Additionally, since the company's mission was to accompany job seekers from start to finish, I was also in charge of negotiations and coordination after receiving a job offer from a company.
In addition, I had to listen to job requests from companies and propose detailed job offers.

  2. Why did you decide to join GLOBIS?

GLOBIS Why did you decide to join the company?
    (1) Deep interest in/strong longing for education
    2) Fit with my current career plan
    (3) High quality instructors/books
    The reasons are as follows.

During my university (graduate school) years, I worked as a cram school teacher and private tutor for 6 years. At that time, my interest in and yearning for the education industry gradually increased and I seriously considered working at a tutoring school. However, for various reasons, I temporarily joined a consulting firm after graduating from graduate school. Fortunately, consulting also has an element of "education" in it, and I have always had a longing for it. About 4 years ago, I came across a job opportunity at GLOBIS as a place where I could realize my dream.

About 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with a serious illness that left me with a disability. I was no longer able to continue the hard work in strategic consulting, investment banking, etc. that I had envisioned in my career plan at the time. As a result, when thinking about my career and work, I switched to "resource-based" thinking, in which I utilize my existing strengths (resources), rather than "positioning" thinking, in which I find and develop the work (opportunities) I want to do. Based on this thinking, I felt that developing MBA-related content and hiring instructors were the best positions for me right now.

    (3) I earned my MBA at US 15 years ago. It was a top 10 school and the classes were of reasonable quality. While studying abroad, I read MBA books on GLOBIS available on the market and listened to my acquaintances (consultants and MBA graduates) who were GLOBIS lecturers. I felt the high brand value (No.1 in Japan) and thought the school was as good as top overseas business schools despite being in Japan, and I kept thinking that I would like to work at GLOBIS if given the opportunity!

  3. Gap felt before and after joining GLOBIS

    What was surprising was that
① Positive and flat company atmosphere
    ② Freedom to achieve goals
    is.

①I worked in a consultant firm and an investment bank for 15 years. Each farm had a different atmosphere, but I don't think there was one that matched the positive mindset of GLOBIS employees and the flat atmosphere of the team. Therefore, I felt a very positive gap. I am able to work in a relaxed manner and concentrate on the content without having to worry too much about the positions of my superiors and subordinates. In addition, because everyone works proactively, problems are resolved quickly and tasks are completed efficiently to achieve goals.

②Consultants provide advice to customers, and although they have a certain degree of freedom to achieve their mission (deliverables), they are still required to work based on constraints from the client and the company's methodology. In contrast, at GLOBIS (the department I belong to), achieving goals and delivering results remains important, but the path to achieving those goals also involves work that involves research and development. What surprised me at the time was that there was a high degree of freedom, allowing individuals to choose a path based on their own experiences and ideas, and to experiment through trial and error. Also, since there is flexibility in the working hours, you can proceed with your work while considering your own family circumstances etc.

  4. What is your current job?

The main work I am currently working on is:
    ① Instructor recruitment
    ② Money-related subject content development
    ③AI teacher data creation
    is.

①Use your previous work experience to scout/headhunt instructor candidates. We will conduct casual interviews with interested candidates, exchange opinions, etc., and those who are determined to apply will proceed to the next process. We will also conduct casual interviews with those who have applied for external lecturer positions, and will proceed to the next step of the process as well. After the interview, candidates may be asked to discuss their concerns. We also created a recruitment video for candidates to view.

②We will provide support for the development of money-related (accounting, finance) content (teaching materials). Specifically, this includes financial statement analysis, market research, valuation, quantitative analysis, etc. Accounting and finance are areas that I have been interested in since my MBA days, so I am having a lot of fun working on them.

③We will participate in the construction of an answer grading support system that utilizes AI to reduce the workload of instructors. Specifically, we will create subject-specific teacher data that will be input by AI and improve grading accuracy. It is a system that supports instructors' thinking during corrections, so you can make use of your MBA and consulting experience.

  5. What I want to achieve in my future career

There are three things I would like to achieve.

① I want to continue working in a job where I can utilize my past knowledge/experience.
As mentioned above, after my illness, I revised my career plan based on whether I could utilize the assets (knowledge/experience) I had accumulated over the years. Of course, with the rapid development of AI, we believe that it is not advisable to stick to traditional work areas. However, I also believe that jobs that require a body of knowledge in business administration and the creative skills acquired during my consulting days will not necessarily be taken over by AI in the near future. I remain strongly interested in MBA education, so even if the field changes, I would like to contribute as much as possible.

② I want to expand and deepen my knowledge/experience
Related to 1, I have set myself the challenge of improving the quality and quantity of my current knowledge/skills for the future. This may be similar to the idea of reskilling, but I would like to increase my intellectual assets and use them to expand the scope of my work. In particular, I have limited knowledge and experience in human resources (human resource management, leadership, Organization behavior, etc.), so I would like to expand my knowledge in this area in the future. At the same time, I would like to deepen my knowledge system regarding money, which is my current strength.

③We want to support the design and realization of career plans for professional human resources (friends/acquaintances/applicants)
I think I continue to have the same pure beliefs about recruitment as I did at my previous job. For me, my previous jobs, ``career change support'' and ``instructor recruitment,'' have basically remained the same internally, but now I support professional human resources (friends/acquaintances/applicants) in designing and achieving their career plans. I think this is the area where I can bring the most value. In other words, this is something I would like to continue to be involved in and continue to create added value. I am confident that I have achieved this to some extent in my previous job. I hope to use the joy I felt at that time to further improve my skills and gain more in the future.

  6. Episodes that felt "GLOBIS-like"

There are two episodes below that made me feel `` GLOBIS-like''.

①Just like when I changed jobs in the past, when I joined the company, I was worried about how I should tackle the challenges given to me and create value.
At first, I received advice from the member sitting next to me about my daily tasks, and during that time I received very valuable feedback.
``There is no need to intentionally do the work that you are weak at, leave it to those who are good at it, find a job where you can utilize your strengths/strengths, and work hard on it and contribute.''
After joining the company, he also had a period of anxiety like I did, but he is now working as a manager, which was very helpful. I strongly felt that GLOBIS creates value based on the cooperative structure of the entire team.

②As mentioned above, I currently have several disabilities. In particular, I have problems with "listening". I don't have any problems with conversations between 2-3 people during interviews, etc., but it's still difficult to keep up with the busy MTG. After joining the company, I had an important MTG who was in charge of minutes, and when I honestly discussed my problems with my superior, he answered, ``I understand. I will take the minutes on your behalf, so don't worry at all. , I hope you will just participate,'' he encouraged me.
At the same time as I felt compassion/consideration, I was also strongly reminded of the `` GLOBIS style'' mentioned in ①, which is to create value based on the cooperative structure of the entire team.

MESSAGE

Message for those who are thinking about job change to GLOBIS

This is somewhat related to what I said in ``03'', but to put it simply, I believe that GLOBIS' Workplace is an environment where ``heartfulness'' is realized. “To live with openness and clarity, to act with honesty to oneself, to empathize with all beings, to participate in and resonate with the world around you.” What about myself...aside from the surroundings? I strongly feel that this is a company that I can feel from almost all of our members. In addition, "heartfulness" is included as an important item in both recruitment interview items and 360-Degree Evaluation items, although the words may differ. If you would like to work in this kind of environment, please apply. We'll be waiting for your visit sincerely
